What happened?:
I was quenching a large quantity of LAH with water. The flask was in an ice bath. I added the water in one portion which resulted in an exothermic reaction that caused the solvent to reflux out of the flask and into my hood. The quench was done too quickly. Although the flask was cooled and stirring, the water should have been added slowly and portion wise.
